2022: Suspension of operations in Russia

The JCB Japanese payment system will suspend operations in Russia. This became known on March 8, 2022.

JCB cards issued by Russian banks will stop working abroad, and cards of foreign banks in Russia, the company said. According to Nikkei, these measures entered into force on March 14.

JCB is one of the largest payment systems in the world, created by Japanese founders. Her cards for March 2022 are accepted for payment in 190 countries.

On March 6, Visa and Mastercard announced the suspension of activities in Russia: if cards of these systems were released in Russia, they will continue to work in the country, but will cease to work abroad, in foreign online stores and services.
