The technology of search of an empty seat on the parking from Ford Sollers allows to be the map of the free and taken places on the parking, using data from parking sensors of cars.
The technology based on crowdsourcing will allow to save time and to avoid the stress connected with search of the place on the big parking.
2018: Announcement
The Ford Sollers company at the end of March, 2018 provided the technology based on crowdsourcing thanks to which motorists will be able to see "map" of the free and taken places at once at arrival on the parking. For obtaining information on unoccupied places data from parking sensors of cars are used.
The technology will preserve to drivers not only nerves and fuel, but also time: according to data of the research conducted by request of Ford in Great Britain, each driver on average annually spends day of the life for search of free "slot" on the parking.
We know well how a lot of time can leave on search of the empty parking space and how stressful can be this process for the driver — Christian Ress, the head of development of technologies of the help to the driver in the European division of researches and the advanced developments of Ford noted. — Our research devoted to "cooperation" at the parking offers an opportunity to make up for lost time to drivers and to help them to enjoy trips without stresses. |
The technology of "the crowdsourcing parking" is based on given from parking sensors of the cars which are already in the territory of a parking. Information on empty seats is transferred to the display of a multimedia system of the car and can be specified using data of own monitoring system of a parking. One of advantages of technology is the lack of need of installation of the additional hardware on the parking — systems which already equip the majority of modern cars are used, emphasized in Ford.
The technology of the help of the parking lot is developed by Ford together with partners within UK Autodrive — the large project implemented in Great Britain on tests of the autonomous and equipped with communication systems cars, partially financed by the state. Earlier on UK Autodrive the company provided driver assistance systems about approach of the car of emergency services, notifications on sharp reduction of speed of the going ahead car (including being behind turn and invisible to the driver) and also the technology allowing cars to be synchronized with traffic lights and to avoid stops on red light on all transit.
