2024: Creation of the "Resource Demand Calculator"

X5 Group has implemented artificial intelligence (AI) resource forecasting in stores of the Perekrestok retail chain. The "Resource Demand Calculator" with the AI module is an X5 Tech proprietary system that allows you to calculate the number of personnel required for each specific store and increase the efficiency of retail outlets. This was announced by Kh5 Group] on September 12, 2024.

This prediction model on  the principle of machine learning (ML) has already shown its effectiveness in the Pyaterochka trading network. The Perekrestok retail chain has reused and replicated the solution for the entire retail network since August 2024.

The Resource Demand Calculator calculates with a high degree of accuracy the future workload depending on the demand, technical features and profile of each store, taking into account more than 20 parameters. This allows the point of sale director to minimize man-hour overspending or, conversely, attract additional resources if the system shows that future demand growth needs to be provided with additional hours. The system dynamically adapts to demand and plans to load personnel for operational management, while being part of the budgeting system.

The Resource Demand Calculator collects digitized data from more than 10 of the company's information systems. Based on this data and the demand forecast of the ML model, a different plan for the workload, the volume of work and the number of shifts required is built for each store.

Thanks to the advanced AI tool, we can, on the scale of our business, even more effectively assist stores in planning and balancing the workforce. Forecasts of the "Calculator" with the AI model during periods of high seasons are 6 times more accurate than the classic model.

The company plans to further improve the tool using AI technologies. The system will be finalized to calculate the needs of Kh5 distribution centers, new modules for calculating store operating indicators will be introduced into it. Intelligent forecasting is also planned to be used for individual motivational plans of employees and will affect the formation of their income.
