2024: Opening a supermarket in an updated concept

The Perekrestok retail chain opened the first supermarket in an updated concept as part of a large-scale restyling. It is located in the southeast of the capital (Volgogradsky Prospekt, house 1, building 1) and features improved technical equipment, as well as an expanded range. In addition, it housed its own premium cafe Select. The company announced this on July 11, 2024.

By the end of 2024, the Perekrestok retail chain plans to update more than 120 supermarkets in this concept in Moscow and 10 in Nizhny Novgorod.

The main task of the concept is to create even more comfortable conditions for purchase, which will increase the loyalty of the client and help build long-term trust relationships with him. Based on the results of a detailed analysis conducted by the company, including feedback from buyers. The strategy implies global changes in internal and external processes, such as the formation of a new pricing model, the launch of an updated system of communication with the client and a rethink of the brand promise.

The assortment of goods and zoning of the space of the first updated "Crossroads" even more correspond to the current shopping needs (for example, in the frequent purchase of fresh food and ready-made food). About 30% of the range is made up of focal categories of the retail chain - fruits, vegetables, fresh fish, fragrant pastries, ready-made food and wine products. The supermarket also created a separate zone of good food, where at least 1,500 corresponding items were collected, including about 650 items of its own trademark "Green Line."

One of the main distinguishing features of the Crossroads concept is the Select cafe, which presents ready-made food under its own brand of the same name. Cafes will appear in each supermarket of a new concept: in new retail facilities Select will be located at the very entrance, and in the existing "Crossroads" - instead of unused cash desks. The decision to create it is due to a rapidly developing trend for symbiosis of the HoReCa segment and retail. Cafe Select matches the level of the "big three" of fast food restaurants and other chains of a similar format and includes "under the knife" dishes along with other sophisticated positions that can be enjoyed right in the supermarket. The cafe also installed a "Lot of Salmon" module with a wide selection of pizza and sushi.

The production of finished products is carried out at Kh5 's own kitchen factory in the Moscow region, which supplies 530 Perekrestkov, shipping up to 100 thousand commodity units per day. Due to high-quality natural ingredients, thoughtful recipes, safe production technologies, assortment range and taste combinations, all food meets the premium level of the HoReCa segment.

In addition to the focus on focal categories and the Select premium cafe, as part of the restyling, the visual language of in-store communication and navigation around the hall, as well as the location of product areas, which immediately pay the buyer's attention to ready-made solutions for any occasion, have been changed. In each category of goods there are many promotional goods and new products.

The facade of the updated "Crossroads" is decorated with light boxes with focal categories, and the entrance group meets all buyers with seasonal racks with thematic products, as well as carriers with a unique sales offer and information about the Crossroads festivals. The interior of the hall uses many elements of wood. The new supermarket also supports Pet-friendly culture, so it is equipped with a large number of carts with a separate section for pets.

Installation of storage containers and primary cells in 492 stores

On January 16, 2023, the Perekrestok retail chain announced that it, together with GP, one of the manufacturers of batteries and primary cells in Russia, had launched a project to dispose of used batteries. 492 stores in 9 regions of the network's presence now have special containers where expired batteries can be handed over. Raw materials will be transferred for recycling to the Megapolisresurs Group of Megapolisresource in the Chelyabinsk Region.

By four-stage processing, manganese, zinc and graphite will be extracted from the collected batteries, which will then be reused in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals and cosmetology. And the rest of the batteries are safely disposed of without harm to the environment. The goal of the initiative is to draw the attention of consumers to recycling issues and reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment.

Crossroads is actively developing initiatives to increase the share of recycling from used materials. As early as January 2023, supermarkets are using shopping baskets made entirely of recycled plastic and bags made up of 35% recyclable materials. On the territory of stores, special containers are also installed for collecting used toothbrushes, aerosol cylinders and plastic caps. All collected items are sent for subsequent processing, and then the raw materials are reused.

2022

Opening of the "Laboratory of Tastes and Ideas" in Moscow

On November 8, 2022, the Perekrestok retail chain announced the opening of a laboratory - a fully equipped and equipped center for the study of the quality of own brand products (STM) and ready-made food.

"Laboratory of Tastes and Ideas" opened in Moscow at st. Srednyaya Kalitnikovskaya, 28s4. In a room with an area of ​ ​ 50 square meters, tastings of dishes of their own production and goods of their own brands "Perekrestka" are already taking place. Testing participants assess the quality of products, as well as packaging and design - both new goods and already presented on the shelves of the retail chain in all regions of presence. The project meets state standards, meets all the necessary requirements for tasting and independent assessment of goods under its own brand. The space accommodates about 15 participants, which allows you to involve not only network employees, but also suppliers in the tasting.

Running a program to ensure uninterrupted supply

The Perekrestok retail network began to integrate suppliers into the product supply planning system, more than 30 companies are already connected to it. The goal is to ensure uninterrupted supply. This became known on April 15, 2022.

The Perekrestok retail chain has launched an implant program that allows you to ensure the maximum degree of openness and predictability between the retail network and the manufacturer. As part of the program, the supplier's representative works directly in the Perekrestok supply chain team and gets access to forecasting, auto-order, replenishment, service, inventory systems in his assortment. The network and the supplier fix the goals for interaction for the year ahead, and then adjust their implementation depending on the market situation.
