Customers: U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon)

Contractors: Kryptowire

Project date: 2018/04

On April 18, 2018 the U.S. Department of Defense concluded with the Kryptowire company which is engaged in development of technologies of cyber security, the contract for creation of a diagnostic system of diseases by means of the smartphone. The American authorities will pay $5.1 million for this product.

The Pentagon ordered application programming which will use different sensors and functions of the smartphone (the camera, the microphone, the motion sensor and heart rate) for detection of anomalies in a status of the user or in his behavior. The program which basis will be formed by the analytical Warfighter Analytics tools of Kryptowire company will analyze discrepancies from normal regime of the user and to notify him on the revealed deviations.

It is supposed that the application will allow to reveal a set of diseases at early stages – from diabetes before post-traumatic stressful frustration. And the earlier the pathological status is diagnosed, the it is more than chances of fast recovery of the patient.

At first new development will be used among the staff of the Pentagon, and then and among all military personnel there is USA. At the same time creators suggest to expand a scope of new technology and to make it commercially available. Such solution already caused concerns from citizens: in the light of problems with privacy protection many people are not ready to trust personal information to the smartphone, especially if it redirects it to the third parties. It should be taken into account, however, that similar technologies are already patented and are used.

So far it is not clear as far as the Kryptowire project and the Pentagon will be successful. Kryptowire generally cooperates with the U.S. Government and covers a wide range of projects: from analytics of security and the corresponding applications to mobile corporate technologies.[1]
