2020: Detection of vulnerability to spoofing of an address bar

Specialists of Rapid7 company together with the Pakistani researcher of security Rafay Baloch detected ten vulnerabilities allowing to forge URL in an address bar in seven mobile browsers. 2018: Output of the mobile Opera Touch browser

On April 25, 2018 it became known that the Otello Corporation company announced the output of the mobile Opera Touch browser created for those who got used to use the Internet in the movement. The mobile browser is easily synchronized from Opera updated the desktop version without the need for password entry or the login.

According to the research Opera conducted among the American users of smartphones, 86% of respondents prefer to use the mobile Internet, holding the smartphone in one hand, being at the same time occupied with other activity, whether it be a trip in public transport, shopping, walk or meal. At the same time the existing mobile browsers often require use of both hands for input of this or that search query or the web address that happens quite uncomfortablly. Opera Touch solves this problem. The innovation navigation of the browser is created so that they were convenient to use one hand. It does work on the Internet even more convenient, consider in Opera.

According to representatives of the company, the first that will be noticed by the user in Opera Touch, is that the browser opens in a search mode at once, allowing to find the interesting information in network right there. After input of a request of Opera Touch will not demand from the user of any additional clicks for search start.

Opera Touch also supports voice search and allows to scan QR and barcodes. These functions do the browser even more useful to users which are in the movement. In the lower part of the browser the button of quick access of FAB (Fast Action Button) for the most convenient work with Opera Touch as one hand is located. This button always is on the screen of the browser and provides direct access to the last tabs and to search function. Besides, it allows the user to browse all functions of the browser a one click of a finger, noted in Opera.

According to the research Opera, 69% of users of smartphones do not use function of synchronization in the browser. Besides, 65% of users to save the link to any website or to return to it later on the computer, send the link to the email or themselves in the form of the message. It occurs because synchronization process quite often is too difficult and requires accomplishment to 13 different actions, explained in Opera and also noted that in Opera Touch connection setup between the smartphone and the desktop browser occupies only one step.

This one step consists in scanning using Opera Touch of the QR code displayed in the Opera browser for computers. After that the Flow function using which it is possible to share links, images, video and notes between the devices becomes available to the user. Flow is available in Opera Touch and in upgraded version of the Opera browser to computers. And she does not demand any logins or passwords.

Every time when this or that content is added to Flow on one device, the same content instantly appears also on other device. Flow uses end-to-end enciphering and works irrespective of the operating system or the producer of a device, explained in Opera.

The Opera Touch browser is available to Android and in the long term will become available to iOS.^[1]
