2018: Output of the robot courier
At the end of May, 2018 the largest online retailer China Alibaba Group provided couple of new products which will help to increase convenience of delivery of purchases. One of them — the robot courier gathering speed to 15 km/h, and the second — the box able to distinguish persons for the delivery of sendings and purchases including ordered on the Internet of food.
The independent robot courier under the name G Plus by the end of May, 2018 is tested in Alibaba headquarters in the Chinese city of Hangzhou. It is possible to load into G Plus a set of sendings of the different size. The improved resource of the robot in comparison with the previous models allows it to overcome long distances, The Verge reports.
The boot compartment G Plus is capable to change the size depending on sending dimensions. Also in Alibaba say that the robot is suitable for delivery of fresh food.
The built-in system of navigation based on technology of laser scanning of LIDAR for creation of the 3D map of the surrounding area is provided in G Plus. If the robot defines that nearby there are too much people and machines, he will reduce speed. From security reasons the maximum speed of movement is limited to 9.3 miles per hour (about 15 km/h).
Having reached a destination point, G Plus will automatically unload sending in the place for storage. Also the receiver can take away it: for this purpose it will be required to enter a PIN code. Alibaba is going to arrange commercial production of G Plus by the end of 2018.
Also provided to Alibaba a "smart" box for delivery of sendings and purchases of Cainiao box with a sensing technology of persons. The box can be set directly behind apartment doors. Thanks to ability to recognize people, it will open only for the courier and the owner.
Also the possibility of adjustment of temperature through mobile application is provided in Cainiao box. Function is useful on delivery the food ordered on the Internet: the smart box will maintain the necessary temperature that food remained warm or cool. When it is necessary to wait for emergence of Cainiao box, it is not reported.[1]
