More and more Russian system integrators and manufacturers, in accordance with the government's import substitution policy, are thinking about producing equipment under their own brand. Including, to participate in state vendors for FZ-44 and FZ-223. We are ready to help them with both hardware and software solutions of the lower level. In other words, the partner's logo can be placed both on the case and displayed in the management system, "says Boris Ivanov, vice president of development at Ricor.

2018: BIOS Announcement

The Russian holding Ricor has developed a server I/O system (BIOS). According to the developers, this is the first domestic basic system, the fundamental difference from imported analogues is the ability to certify the source code.

Ricor has developed BIOS for servers and storage

Analysis of source code and subsequent certification are mandatory conditions for application ON in Russian state institutions. They are needed to find "bookmarks" and other undocumented software features that can lead, for example, to data leakage. The ability to certify the source code of the I/O system and open access to the server management module codes means that servers Rickor storage systems are guaranteed to have no unauthorized software modules.

All holding servers and storage systems are expected to be equipped with Ricor I/O. In addition, they will also install a server management module (BMC Ricor), the development of which the holding announced in May this year. The development of "BMC Ricor" was carried out on the basis of an open code project (openbmc): the manufacturer provides system users with access to source codes for further certification or making the necessary changes.

According to Ricor, their products are focused primarily on companies interested in import substitution: production is completely located in the Russian Federation, and having developed its own BIOS and Navy systems, the company has increased the ad valor share of domestic components to almost 70%.

The Russian manufacturer provides a 3-year guarantee for its products, declares a short delivery time (4 weeks including production) and a lower cost than the American and Asian counterparts. The holding produces motherboards for servers and storage systems in various versions: with 2 and 4 GB ports, with a M2 connector for installing hard drives, etc. As of July 2018, the holding has already entered into partnership agreements with the largest Russian distributors and collectors of IT equipment.

In 2010, the Russian collector Kraftway announced the design and start of production of a motherboard with its own BIOS assembly. Its basis was the Phoenix Award system, which was thoroughly "cleaned" from vulnerable modules and built a trusted boot module. It was assumed that the state and the corporate sector will become customers of PCs with a protected BIOS.[1]
