The Lyrebird company was founded by young developers from Canada. The office of a startup is located in Montreal, in the Canadian province of Quebec. According to information from the website of the company, Lyrebird aims "create the most realistic artificial voices in the world".

2018: The announcement of software which copies a voice of the person

In June, 2018 Lyrebird company the software on the basis of artificial intelligence which can copy a voice of any person.

The program records a voice of the person and is capable to copy it already in a few minutes. The result of system operation is so realistic that even relatives do not hear a difference and cannot define with whom speak by phone, developers claim.

It is created by software which clones a voice of the person

The Lyrebird technology is intended for creation of sound avatars (digital copies of a voice of the person), unique artificial voices for different applications and scoring of books/video games / any other text.

By software of Lyrebird it was already used for the help to people with specific violations of the speech, including to Patrick Quinn, the founder of Ice Bucket Challenge. Quinn has a side amyotrophic sclerosis — a disease of motor-neurons which finally led to loss of a voice. Lyrebird used videos of performances of Quinn to replace a mechanical voice of the device for reproduction of the text which he used for communication, on Quinn voice earlier.

Nevertheless all this does not exclude potential abuse of this technology. Thanks to Lyrebird it is possible to copy a voice of any person that can lead to unpleasant effects. Jose Sotelo, one of founders of Lyrebird, explained that it and other developers dream of use of new technology in the good purposes and should not be afraid of its abuse. They assure that the voice samples used by the company for creation of sound avatars are confidential data and will be protected by the law.[1]
