Motorola Solutions updates communication in the American army for half a billion dollars

In July, 2018 Motorola Solutions signed with the American army the contract for the amount nearly half a billion dollars ($495 million). Within this agreement the company will have to update a global crucial communication network.

Motorola Solutions received the open order for which necessary data and documents for receiving are created. The duration of the agreement makes five years.

Motorola Solutions will deliver to U.S. Army of a system of a mobile land radio communication  (LMR) in  the P25 (APCO P25) standard and the corresponding component parts. Besides, the company undertakes to render services warranty and maintenance, installation and setup of the equipment and also will train military how to use the new equipment.

P25  is the communication system with an open architecture directed to satisfaction of requirement of the state, government and other organizations for an operative communication for the purposes of security. The technology defines interfaces, interaction and possibilities of any system compatible to P25 standard. The radio station can work as in the analog mode for compatibility with the existing analog FM radio stations, and in the analog or digital mode with others P25 radio stations. The standard is not closed therefore any producer can create digital P25 radio station.

Motorola Solutions became one of five producers which were employed by the U.S. Department of Defense for upgrade of communications in army using P25 standard.

The Motorola Solutions company offers the equipment, compatible to P25, which keeps in group contact, expanded text messaging, position fix and the push-to-talk function.^[1]
