New light version
On December 27, 2018 submitted to LG Electronics the new version of an exoskeleton of CLOi SuitBot which significantly differs from the initial version announced four months before.
There is a set of the professions demanding from the person of accomplishment repeating, sometimes simple, actions. However such operations performed day by day can lead to different injuries. For example, loaders in warehouses, daily several times a day the lifting small objects, receive different injuries of a backbone over time.
The updated exoskeleton in comparison with the predecessor differs from LG in ease and usability. Innovation supports a waist and increases own muscular strength of the person to reduce risk of getting injured and fatigue at accomplishment of physical activities, such as rise and lowering of heavy loads. The wearable robot works till four o'clock without recharge and is charged in only one hour.
The previous version of CLOi SuitBot has more massive construction which begins from a waist and comes to an end with heels. Removed the fastenings which were located along all leg and also a zone for a foot new modification. Developers decided to be limited to support of a waist and fastening in the lower part of hips.
A new robotic system from LG will be publicly presented within the CES 2019 exhibition which will take place from January 8 to January 12 in Las Vegas. Sales of a product are expected right after this action.
LG says that demand for the robotic systems for workers on industrial platforms sharply grows as they help to work more effectively and prevent possible accidents or injuries.
Referring to data of BIS Research analytical company, reported to LG Electronics that the world market of such systems will grow to 5 trillion wons ($4.4 billion) in 2026 from 100 billion wons in the 2016th.[1]
Announcement of an exoskeleton
On August 23, 2018 LG Electronics announced an exoskeleton of CLOi SuitBot which thanks to artificial intelligence is called the company "the wearable robot". Adaptation intended for simplification of a raising and transfer of heavy things due to support of the lower part of a trunk and reduction of load of it was developed jointly with a startup of SG Robotics.
Affirms that the person, having put on CLOi SuitBot, will be able to go and do usual movements by a natural method thanks to the special rotating hinges and comfortable landing. Footwear of an exoskeleton is similar to sandals that along with function of automatic adjustment helps to put on and take off a suit easier.
Exoskeletons are demanded in the most different spheres. They help with rehabilitation of paralytics, facilitate movement on the cross-country terrain, help builders and loaders, or, for example, save elderly people from falling. It should be noted that the vast majority of exoskeletons uses different electric drives and works from accumulators — it allows to increase efficiency of construction, but does it volatile.
The possibility of self-training became one of features of CLOi SuitBot which is also the electronic robot. Artificial intelligence techniques allow to analyze biometric testimonies and movements of the user and also data arriving from the outside to make recommendations about improvement of a bearing and the most effective use of energy.
Besides, the exoskeleton can interact (to exchange information and tools) with other service robots of LG and to become a part of small "smart" working network at manufacturing enterprises, warehouses, etc.
Public demonstration of the LG CLOi SuitBot robot will take place at the IFA 2018 exhibition which will take place from August 31 to September 5 in Berlin.[2]
