"Forward" provided business continuity through Softline

On August 23, 2018 the Softline company reported that it provided business continuity in Forvard Group.

According to the company, use of cloud services of Microsoft will allow the company to provide safe data storage and to save operability of business applications in case of failures.

As it was reported, Forvard Group needed the flexible solution allowing to guarantee reliable storage and recovery data. The IT department asked for the help the old partner, Softline company. A choice was made for benefit of cloud services Backup and Site Recovery, offered by experts of Softline. The customer has a subscription on Microsoft Azure and uses System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM). Backup copies, the created DPM, are stored only locally and can be lost in case of serious technical failure or a natural disaster. Convenient and simple connection to a cloud service of Azure Backup will allow to guarantee the high level of safety of data and a possibility of their recovery even in case of total loss of all local infrastructure of the customer.

Forvard Group provided to engineers of Softline access to To IT infrastructure. Joint forces configured integration of System Center Data Protection Manager about Azure Backup and backup of databases SQL Server, file servers and virtual machines Hyper-V to the cloud storage of Azure.

During a pilot project possibilities of Azure Site Recovery service which provides continuous replication and allows to start quickly in case of failure the protected virtual machines in a cloud were also shown, having minimized thereby a downtime. Cloud services are paid for use measure that allows to reduce costs and to optimize the IT budget. Forvard Group has an opportunity to easily scale services and to select data for storage, up to separate files and also the term of their protection.

The customer had difficulties with collection of data on number and volume of backup copies for the main services. Our specialists developed a script of PowerShell using which it was succeeded to create the report with detailed information on quantity and the sizes of backup copies for each service that allowed to calculate the cost of operation of the solution for service Azure Backup. As a result of a pilot project we using a command of Softline got acquainted with opportunities of cloud services and estimated economic benefits.
