2018: Creation of a management system for satellites

On August 24, 2018 the RKS company reported that her specialists of holding in a work progress over the concept of the Russian multifunction infocommunication satellite system created the solutions which are completely changing the existing approaches to control of spacecrafts. Creation will allow not only to render communication services in space of the universal bus of data exchange to subscribers on Earth, but also to connect all satellites operating in an orbit to the Internet.

Satellites turn into subscriber devices of a digital network of data transmission. The most important can receive allocated channel of management, and to the majority of kubsat and scientific devices of rather simple connection to the Internet. It will allow to manage them via the normal web interface just as we work with service of cloud data storage now.

For the solution of this task on spacecrafts of the Russian communication system it is going to install on several low-directional antennas. With their help it will be possible to keep constantly in contact as with the devices which are in higher orbits and with the satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles located below.

The management concept spacecrafts was via the Internet tested by RKS in a work progress in an orbit of nanosatellite TNS-0 No. 2 platform. Practical testing of application in link quality of management and data exchange of the satellite communication system Globalstar became one of achievements of this experiment. The modem of this system installed onboard TNS-0 No. 2 provided the reliable channel of bilateral data transmission.

Use of the satellite communication system allows to be connected to the spacecraft from any place on Earth or in space where there is an Internet access. For maintenance of an alternative channel of communication it was used set onboard the VHF communicator satellite. During operating time in an orbit from TNS-0 No. 2 3,577 communication sessions of the general lasting more than 136 hours were held.

Use of the satellite communication system which is specially designed taking into account tasks of control of spacecrafts will allow to lower considerably costs of commercial operators of such devices and to make work in an orbit more available to research teams.

RKS participates in the project of creation in Russia of the universal global communication system which will be used as "the space data bus" for provision of services of satellite personal (telephone) communication, the Internet, data acquisition from sensors and the systems of Internet of Things and also for management and monitoring of drones.
