2022: EOS R5 C 8K Camera Announcement

On January 20, 2022, the company Canon announced the EOS R5 C camera, the first full-frame hybrid movie camera to support video recording in the format. 8K The EOS R5 C is capable of recording 12-bit RAW 8K/30p video on an internal camera or up to 8K/60p using an external power supply. It is possible to shoot video 4K with a frame rate of up to 120 k/s. The camera has HDR support through PQ, as well as HLG and Canon's own Canon Log 3 range for realistic results.

EOS R5 C includes functions of a system of autofocus Canon Dual Pixel CMOS AF, such as autofocus on eyes for tracking eyes in real time and EOS iTR AF X which allows autofocus to follow the heads, even when the person turns away from the camera.

The camera also takes advantage of digital image stabilization, which works in tandem with optical image stabilization in compatible lenses to reduce the effect of shaking when shooting from the hands. EOS R5 C can record video in Cinema RAW Light format, allowing the camera to record high-quality 12-bit frames with a wide dynamic range and color scheme. Thanks to the active cooling system, the chamber does not have problems with overheating.

Inside the hybrid movie camera is a 45-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, DIGIC X processor and Canon RF bayonet. The sensor allows you to shoot 45-megapixel frames with a serial shooting speed of up to 20 frames per second, and the processor allows filmmakers to increase the ISO to 51,200 when shooting in low-light conditions.

Photographers can also capture 10-bit HEIF images with an extended dynamic range and color scheme, and an interval timer allows you to create timepieces with high resolution.

Meanwhile, the RF bayonet allows users to install Canon EF, RF and Cinema lenses, as well as third-party anamorphic lenses, if a wider aspect ratio is required.

The EOS R5 C body is made of magnesium alloy, and the total weight of the chamber is 680 g, the device is resistant to dust and atmospheric effects. There are 13 assigned buttons on the chassis, as well as a 0.5-inch OLED viewfinder and a 3.2-inch HD LCD monitor to display separate menus for photos and videos, accessed using a 3-position power switch.

Canon EOS R5 C will go on sale from March 2022. Camera preorders are open. The purchase price is €4.999.[1]
