Business in Russia
2021: Opening of a complex for the production of uviol glass in Smolensk
In May 2021, a complex for the production of uviol glass was opened, which is used to make bactericidal lamps. At this time, there are several plants of this type in the world, and production in Smolensk will become the only platform for the production of uvioloy glass pipe in Russia.
The new workshop is equipped with a system for preparing a charge (mixture of components), a glass-melting furnace, a glass pipe drawing line. The production capacity of the furnace is 180 tons of liquid glass per month or 2.5 million semi-finished pipes. Investments in the complex amount to more than 300 million rubles and will provide almost 40 new jobs for the region.
Ledvans JSC will use uvioloy glass tube to produce its own bactericidal lamps, while before the launch of the complex, material for this purpose was purchased in Europe. Thus, the most important semi-finished product for the manufacture of bactericidal lamps is planned to be provided with local capacities. In addition, the company plans to become one of the leading suppliers of uviol glass tubes to other Russian and foreign manufacturers of ozone-free UV lamps.
2016: Highlight lighting direction for domestic and professional applications to Ledvance
During the "LED revolution" in the lighting industry, Osram management decided to segment its business into two independent areas. So there was a business division of automotive lighting and highly specialized devices - Osram and another direction - lighting for domestic and professional use of Ledvance. Thus, in 2016, Ledvance GmbH appeared on the lighting market. The name of the company appeared as a result of the phrase "LED" - "LED" and "advance" - "progress."
2003: Production opening in Smolensk
In 2003, Osram opened production in Russia - a plant in Smolensk, which later moved to Ledvance from 2016.
