The Gertsenovsky university consolidated mail resources based on the solution of Microsoft

On September 25, 2018 the Softline company announced that the staff of the company updated corporate mail at the Russian state pedagogical university of A.I. Herzen based on Microsoft Exchange that allowed to create to the customer a comfortable IT environment for joint work of employees.

RGPU of A.I. Herzen uses it the mail server based on the open source. The task to increase fault tolerance of corporate mail and to organize an opportunity for work of employees in uniform communication space was set for IT service. Mail needed to be created based on the servers which are available in infrastructure of university and at the same time to provide a possibility of partial migration of directories.

"Experience of sharing of products of Microsoft and freely extended software based on Linux is interesting to us. It will allow to compare functionality of mail servers in practice and to analyze possible difficulties which we can face upon transition from one system to another, including migration on domestic software". Specialists of Softline offered the customer of Microsoft Exchange 2016. The solution allows to organize uniform communication space for joint work of employees. With its help they will have continuous access to e-mail, calendars, contacts that simplifies collaborative planning and interaction in the general continuous workflow. At the same time all confidential data will be reliably protected.

The command of Softline unrolled a core infrastructure of Microsoft – the Active Directory directory service. Then the system of corporate mail for the management of the university was built. According to the results of the project heads can organize meetings, plan activity, to see calendars of each other. As a part of employees of university uses old e-mail, it was synchronized with Microsoft Exchange. Thanks to it synchronization of contacts and message exchange within the uniform mail domain is available to users.
