SITA Scan&Fly are booths for independent registration of baggage using which the passenger can print the luggage label, paste it on a suitcase and then put on a tape of the conveyor.
Booths of SITA Scan&Fly are intended especially for upgrade of the old airports: at their installation it is not required to change the existing tapes of conveyors and to remake racks. At any time it is possible to switch to manual registration of baggage. Also alteration of IT infrastructure is not required: the booth is integrated from the existing DCS and can be started literally for one night "window" between the last and first runs.
The possibility of independent registration and checking in is provided by SelfBagDrop (SBD) smart technology. The procedure takes less than a minute and reduces time necessary for accomplishment of preflight formalities.
For July, 2018 the device is equipped with the scanner of documents, the hand infrared scanner of barcodes (at first we print a label, then we paste and we scan). As an option installation of the bank terminal for payment acceptance for above-standard baggage is possible. The booth can work both with one airline, and with all taking off from the airport.[1]
