2019: IntelliSnap is certified for use with HyperFlex

On January 21, 2019 the Commvault company announced that its technology of instant pictures IntelliSnap successfully passed test and is certified for use with the hyper convergent Cisco HyperFlex systems. Read more here.

2018: HyperFlex 3.0: Support of containers and Microsoft Hyper-V is added, multicloud services are integrated

At the beginning of a year Cisco provided updated software for the Cisco HyperFlex platform. The version of HyperFlex 3.0 simplifies and increases performance of functioning of applications in clouds of different scales. In the new version such features as support of Microsoft Hyper-V, the stretched clusters, containers and new multicloud services which allow to develop applications, to manage them and to perform monitoring in any cloud are added. As a result the updated system has a unique opportunity to support development and deployment of both traditional, and customized cloud applicaions on the general hyper convergent platform

Version of software of HyperFlex 3.

  • It is improved for work with critical and cloud tasks.
  • Expanded support of hypervisors. In addition to VMware of ESXi Microsoft Hyper-V is supported.
  • Support of containers. One of new products of the platform of data processing became the FlexVolume driver which allowed to implement long-term storage for the managed containers Kubernetes and also development and deployment of both traditional, and customized cloud applicaions on the HyperFlex platform.
  • Validation of corporate applications. The HyperFlex platform is ready to start of a wide range of tasks, at the same time different means of profiling and determination of an optimal configuration for support of projects on migration of applications are provided. In addition to the guides to design and installation of infrastructure of the virtual servers VSI (Virtual Server Infrastructure) and the virtual desktop VDI systems (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) of Cisco offers the guides to development of critical applications for work with databases, analytics and ERP, including Oracle SQL SAP, Microsoft Exchange and Splunk.

The organizations need to provide mobility of tasks and application monitoring both in public, and in private clouds. This task is carried out by the HyperFlex platform in which new services are integrated with a portfolio of multicloud software Cisco.

  • Monitoring of performance of applications. AppDynamics in combination with HyperFlex allows to perform monitoring of performance of the hybrid applications functioning on the HyperFlex platform and in different clouds.
  • Placement of applications. The Cisco Workload Optimization Manager (CWOM) application for HyperFlex helps customers to automate the analysis and placement of working tasks.
  • Cloud management. The CloudCenter application provided last year for HyperFlex allows to manage lifecycle of working tasks both in one cloud, and in several private and public clouds.
  • Private cloud. CloudCenter for HyperFlex simplifies deployment of virtual machines, containers and applications and optimizes management of them, facilitating developers and administrators work with private clouds.

Cisco technologies give to customers the chance to provide full-function fault tolerance at a global scope of management of the cloud systems.

  • Growth of local fault tolerance and scalability. Now customers with a big density of virtual machines can use a system: clusters of HyperFlex are scaled up to 64 nodes, at the same time possibilities of fault tolerance are expanded due to support of zones of availability.
  • The stretched clusters for DPCs. For the purpose of observance of security requirements of data and high availability in HyperFlex the possibility of configuring of the stretched clusters for ensuring availability of campus and city networks is provided in critical situations.
  • Cloud management for DPCs. Cisco Intersight supports HyperFlex Cloud Deployment now, simplifying deployment and management on remote objects.

2017: Cisco HyperFlex upgrade

On March 16, 2017 Cisco provided the upgraded functionality of the HyperFlex Systems portfolio.

Providing stability of input-output operations and performance, Cisco integrated the Cisco HX Data Platform platform (the distributed file system which is specially developed for clusters of HCI) with factory [[ Cisco UCS Unified Computing System|UCS]] which is characterized by a low delay time.

Representation of Cisco HyperFlex Systems is Complete Hyperconvergence, (2016)

The version of HyperFlex offers productive options of a complete set, advanced intuitive management and corporate functions of data protection and information security. High-capacious all-flash-nodes with support of 40-gigabit connections for UCS factory expand possibilities of customers on achievement of maximum capacity of applications.

Management of the platform using HyperFlex Connect supports dynamic system analytics and autonomous HTML5 interface for management and orchestration of clusters of HyperFlex from any device. Functionality of management, protection and information security of data for confidential tasks, functionality of native replication for protection of applications, options of protection of stationary data using the self-ciphered disks.

Integration of Commvault and Cisco HyperFlex

On July 13, 2016 the press service of Commvault company announced submission of the solution, joint with Cisco, for the simplified backup, recovery and archiving of corporate data.

Integration of Commvault into Cisco HyperFlex protects workloads and applications, in the physical, virtualized and cloud infrastructures. Using the upgraded architecture on the Cisco HyperFlex platform, the organization can receive the universal solution for backup, recovery, and archiving of data which lowers operating expenses and allows to scale flexibly infrastructure from terabytes to petabytes.

Commvault supports more than 20 cloud platforms of storage and hardware environments and helps to minimize dependence on specific suppliers of hardware and cloud solutions.

Commvault becomes the sixth year in a row the leader in the field of backup and data recovery for data centers according to Gartner. And therefore we well know problems which the market faces. For us honor to work on these problems together with Cisco. The new joint solution will allow to simplify deployment of architecture of data protection, to lower purchase costs of excessive hardware and to considerably reduce time for implementing solutions of the necessary scale.

HyperFlex Systems

HyperFlex Systems is solutions for implementation of the upgraded architectural approach to hyper convergent infrastructure.

On March 3, 2016 Cisco provided Cisco HyperFlex Systems at the heart of which the computing Cisco UCS platform, it implements changes in architectural approach to hyper convergent infrastructure.

HyperFlex Systems (2016)

Possibilities of HyperfFlex:

  • simple initial setup by the principle of plug-n-play with flexible, adaptive and independent scaling of computing and network resources and tanks of storage systems;
  • powerful services of data management, including fast cloning and not intrusive creation of instant pictures with permanent line (inline) deduplication and line compression, allow to reduce data storage volumes by 80%;
  • the solution which was initially developed to reduce total cost of ownership by 30% and on 40% to raise performance in comparison with proposals of competitors, allows to use possibilities of hyper convergence in a broad spectrum of corporate tasks.
