2018: Tests of RFID tags for marking of wood of valuable breeds

On November 7, 2018 Rostec reported that the Ruselectronics holding successfully tested RFID tags for marking of wood of valuable breeds. Application of radio-frequency tags will allow to automate cutting accounting, to monitor transportation and sorting of wood and also to reduce illegal cutting. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation acted as the project orderer.

During tests of a tag yielded results of identification of wood, close to 100%, in the car of the timber carrying vessel and the car when reading by the stationary RFID portal at distance to 11 meters and also passed strength tests by a blow method. Tags of the increased durability for marking of logs and timber sustained a permanent load in 1.5 tons and a shock load up to 5 tons. Other advantage of the provided means of marking is that they do not lose the properties at a temperature from-40 to +65 degrees.

The growing global demand for wood of valuable breeds provokes increase in illegal cutting from which damage annually is billions of rubles. At the same time the cabin of the wood occurs on huge, often hardly accessible territories. For control and accounting of logging effective solution is application of the modern digital systems. Our tags are the universal solution for marking of wood and control of logging at all stages.

According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, three valuable breeds of a tree: the oak, a beech and an ash-tree - need to be marked by the piece by delivery to export. RFID tags allow to store and transfer data on wood to the Unified State Automated Information System (USAIS) "Accounting of wood and transactions with it".

Within tests the RFID tags of the increased durability for marking of logs and timber developed by JSC IMTs of Concern Vega (enters into Ruselectronics holding) and also tags of PJSC Mikron were tested (enters into JSC RTI).

As a part of IMTs of Vega Concern more than 10 years the Competence Center of radio frequency identification works. Results of experiments of our specialists formed the basis of technologies which will allow to automate shortly control and accounting of export of valuable wood from Russia. The final stage of practical researches is planned for 2019. We work on creation of an experimental system of functional use of radio-frequency marking of the wood including client applications for lumberers and regulatory authorities.
