At the beginning of November, 2018 LG Electronics concluded with the largest South Korean retailer E-mart the bargain on delivery of robotic product carts which will allow retail network to create shops without cashiers.
The "smart" cart independently follows the owner, going round obstacles and to help to be guided with supermarket, prompting where are these or those goods. A request for search can be sent as via the built-in display, and using special mobile application, transfers the The Korea Herald edition.
Other advantage of the cart is existence of the built-in scanner of a barcode. In process of filling the device calculates the cost of goods and displays the list of purchases on the display. The prototype of the "smart" cart was presented at the international CES exhibition at the beginning of 2018. This is the robot having the cylindrical form working at the expense of electric motors and supplied with the small display to which hints and other useful information are output.[1]
The device will be on sale under the CLOi brand under which eight products among which there are robots cleaners, robots-gazonokosilshchiki, robots guides are already released.
For creation of robots who could maneuver safely near the person LG invests means in the companies which are engaged in development of artificial intelligence. Among them — Robotis, Bossa Nova Robotics, SG Robotics and Robostar. This list also included the University of Toronto which received from LG a multimillion grant on AI research and development.
