2018: Start of the platform

In November, 2018 Rostelecom provided a single platform of cyber security and the first three services on its basis. The platform functions based on Rostelecom-Solar, the purchased operator created from before Solar Security company.

The platform ensures network security and protection against Internet threats in a format of the services available through communication channels of Rostelecom. The starter kit of services includes protection against network attacks (Unified Threat Management), security of e-mail (Secure Email Gateway) and web applications (Web Application Firewall).

By the end of 2019 the number of services is going to be increased more than twice and also scaling of capacity of the platform on number of connections is planned.

Services are focused on mass B2B a segment and are available to acquisition together with services of communication channels. In Rostelecom-Solar told that the cost of service on the small company is estimated from 30 thousand to 150 thousand a month depending on completeness of a packet. Developers state that it is much cheaper than if the customer purchased these solutions and necessary infrastructure.

For work of services of cyber security the specialized final equipment will be installed on client side: the standard router will be replaced with a box with a little more size, the CEO Rostelecom-Solar Igor Lyapunov explained. The customer should not install any other equipment. Lyapunov added that the customer receives virtual means of protecting, control and daily administration from provider of services. Connection, setup, operation and 24/7 support are performed by specialists of Solar JSOC.

The platform is enriched with information on threats used when rendering services of the center of monitoring and response to Solar JSOC cyber attacks. It aggregates data from business statements on the new malware, vulnerabilities and methods of the attacks (Threat Intelligence) and also is a participant of information exchange with groups of emergency response in the field of cyberthreats (CERT) in Russia and abroad.

Developers state that unlike "classical scenarios" in which the service provider manages the physical equipment in DPC or on the platform of the customer the single platform of cyber security Rostelecom-Solar deals with the virtualized objects. It, assure of the company, provides complete controllability, fast scalability and support of geographically distributed network. As the key technology partner on creation of the platform Nokia acted. In services cybersecurity solutions of foreign and foreign vendors are used.

In the long term till 2021 the company considers entry into the B2C-market with cybersecurity services.

Investments into development of the platform made more than 1 billion rubles, according to representatives of the company. Rostelecom is going to bring revenue from services in the field of cyber security to 10 billion rubles within the next several years.
