2018: Opening of the first in China completely robotic restaurant
In November, 2018 the large online retailer JD.com opened the first in China completely robotic restaurant and announced plans to start up to 1 thousand such points of public catering by 2020.
Restaurants at which instead of cooks and service staff robots are used received the name XCafe. The first of them opened in Tianjin — third largest the city in continental China. The cafe of 400 square meters is in the what town of Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco City.
At this restaurant all processes are automated: order placement, preparation and directly cooking, laying of dishes and service of tables. Sometimes people nevertheless should interfere with process — for example, at emergence of emergency situations or when it is necessary to fill up with ingredients of the robot cook.
As the manager of XCafe Tang told journalists This (Tang Siyu), the restaurant is capable to place about 300 visitors for dinner. At the same time guests are replaced at one table approximately three times per hour in evening and lunch time.
By November, 2018 in robotic cafe JD.com about 40 types of dishes are offered. Generally it dishes which prepare by fast frying at permanent stirring (so-called stir-fray). It is in the future going to increase the menu to more than 200 names.
In addition to acceptance of food, the restaurant offers an opportunity to play interactive games in a format of virtual reality.
Spyce is considered the first-ever completely robotic restaurant. Its opening it was announced in May, 2018. In this cafe open kitchen where seven independent packages for cooking are located. Visitors select one of dishes of the international kitchen from the electronic menu. Then ingredients automatically get to one of machines for cooking. In all institution two cooks who are engaged in cutting of products and laying work.[1]
