Born October 15, 1972 in the city of Fryazino, Moscow Region. Dmitry Maksimov is one of the founders and shareholders of Positive Technologies.
Education
Dmitry graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Systems Engineering of Moscow State Forest University (MGUL) with a degree in Computing Machines, Complexes, Systems and Networks. The faculty was founded on the initiative of S.P. Korolev with the aim of training personnel for the country's rocket and space complex.
Career
1995-2000
Dmitry began his career as a programmer in 1995 in the Russian Railways system.
From 1997 to 2000 he worked in a large Russian bank - he programmed and dealt with information security issues. His passion for information security prompted him to develop utilities for scanning remote computers. A set of similar utilities in 1998 was assembled into the first version of the XSpider scanner.
In 2000, the servers of the Aport search engine suffered from hacks, and the project management, represented by Evgeny Kireev, invited information security specialists to cooperate. Among those who responded was Dmitry Maksimov, who in the same year joined the team of the Aport system, was involved in ensuring the information security of the project.
2002
In 2002, Positive Technologies was founded. Dmitry Maksimov, Evgeny Kireev and Yuri Maksimov, with a team of like-minded people, began work on a commercial version of the XSpider scanner. The main code of the first versions of the scanner was written by Dmitry Maksimov, and since then it has remained practically unchanged. The same code, in addition to many added checks, is used in the MaxPatrol integrated monitoring system, the Pentest module.
2023: Resigning from the company's board of directors
On June 26, 2023, Positive Technologies announced the departure of Dmitry Maksimov from the board of directors. As the press service of the company clarified, one of the co-founders of the manufacturer of information security solutions decided to concentrate on the implementation of their own projects.
It is noted that Dmitry Maksimov voluntarily took the decision to resign as a member of the board of directors. The board continued to operate in a reduced composition, the vote of the retired board member is not taken into account when voting and determining the quorum, Positive Technologies reported.
At the end of June 2023, the company added that, taking into account the requirements of the legislation, the necessary actions will soon be taken to convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and re-elect the board of directors. The company will report on the timing and form of the meeting, according to the statement, additionally on its website.
In mid-June 2023, the co-founder and major shareholder of Positive Technologies, Evgeny Kireev, was elected chairman of its board of directors. Then it was reported that Yuri Maksimov, who previously held this position, will continue his activities on the board of directors of the company, concentrating on strategic issues of business development and corporate governance at Positive Technologies, and will also pay attention to the implementation of personal projects.

The departure of Dmitry Maksimov from the board of directors became known a few days after European Union he announced sanctions against Positive Technologies. The company said in an official statement that the EU's decision to impose sanctions against Positive Technologies is based on the fact that the company has a license FSB Russia and does not affect the company's business in any way. Positive Technologies' plans for "two-fold annual business growth or breakthrough technology creation" cyber security remain unchanged, a spokesman said.[1]
