Norilsk Nickel upgraded four data centers in Norilsk and Murmansk region

2019: Upgrade of four DPCs

On February 3, 2020 the company announced Jet Infosystems project implementation on upgrade of four geographical distributed data centers of Nirnikel. Upgrade in Norilsk and Murmansk region became base for creation of reliable IT infrastructure on which the efficiency of all IT systems of the enterprise depends. As the general contractor of the project the Jet Infosystems IT company in cooperation with experts of operation "Norilsk Nickel acted there is OTsO" and specialists of Delta Electronics producer.

Project implementation took place in permafrost conditions. Despite it, harmonious actions of the integrated IT command allowed to carry out preproject tests, migration of the IT equipment and installation works almost seamlessly. Low temperatures, strong wind and snow demanded the increased quality of the materials and more rugged constructions maintaining temperature range from -55 ° to +35 °C. In addition to technology aspects of upgrade of data centers, the command resolved also difficult issues of logistics. So, a part of the equipment was quickly brought on the atomic ice breaker to Dudinka port, and in the period of a spring high water when maritime routes are closed, used air air transportation. At the same time some large elements, for example, UPSes (uninterruptible power supply units), went the cargo aircraft as oversized.

The updated data centers are constructed by the uniform technology principle and consist of five main systems: * * power supply,

• ventilation,
• SCS,
• automatic fire fighting
• monitoring.

Except creation of life support systems for each of DPC specialists Jet Infosystems implemented industrial dispatching system and managements which integrated all engineering complex.

2018: Completion of upgrade of engineering infrastructure of DPCs in Polar branch and the Kola MMC

On December 3, 2018 the Norilsk Nickel company announced completion of upgrade of engineering infrastructure of the Data Processing Centers (DPC) on two key production sites — in Polar branch and the Kola MMC. Updating of data centers is a part of the global program for implementation of high-performance computing powers implemented by Norilsk Nickel. Upgrade of data centers allowed to increase their fault tolerance, to increase capacity and to reach the necessary security level of storage and data processing. Creation of a failover cluster in Moscow which will provide the high level of availability and integration of the critical systems of the company will become the final stage. The total cost of upgrade of engineering infrastructure of DPCs of Norilsk Nickel is more than 450 million rubles.

Upgrade of two DPCs entering the Norilsk cluster in Polar branch of the company allowed to double their formatted capacity. Totally DPCs are ready to accept the IT equipment with power up to 275 kW. In addition to the life support systems of IT infrastructure obligatory for modern data centers, both industrial dispatching system and managements which integrated all engineering complex is implemented.

Upgrade of the centers in Polar branch is carried out jointly by a command "Norilsk Nickel is OTsO" and the general contractor — system integrator "Jet Infosystems". The main engineering life support systems are executed on the equipment Delta Electronics.

In the fall of 2018 the company completed the construction of two data centers on the Kola MMC — in the cities of Monchegorsk and Polar. Net output of the equipment — up to 90 kW.

Upgrade of data processing centers in Norilsk Nickel is carried out since 2015. Target "architecture" covers six DPCs, including future cluster in Moscow. Within the next two years in own premises of head office of the company the DPC which will become a key link of a failover capital cluster of the metallurgical company will be constructed. In it the most critical will accommodate for it corporate systems.

"The Moscow cluster, first of all, should provide the high level of performance and availability of such systems as SAP ERP and also to serve for reservation of the critical systems providing business processes of the company. It will provide the necessary level of fault tolerance of IT infrastructure of the company and also infrastructure for operational recovery in case of failures. DPCs are Basic Element of IT infrastructure which also undergoes process of complex upgrade.
