China Unicom and ZTE made the first-ever call to 5G networks with architecture of NSA

2019: The first a 5G call through a ZTE smartphone 5G prototype

The ZTE Corporation company, the international supplier of telecommunication solutions and also corporate and consumer technologies for the mobile Internet, announced on January 18, 2019 that the Guangdong division of China Unicom and ZTE made the first-ever call to 5G networks using a ZTE smartphone 5G prototype within field tests of a 5G in the city of Shenzhen. During testings verification of different services, including a group voice call in a messedzher of WeChat, watching video online and web browsing was complete.

Tested made a pilot zone in Shenzhen the first commercial test zone in the world where the call in the architecture of 5G network based on NSA (the nonautonomous structure of network) according to specification 3GPP Release 15 was made. The city of Shenzhen known as "The city of innovations", is one of the first pilot zones 5G of the Chinese operator China Unicom. In the city complete verification of network functions of networks of fifth generation and also special services, roaming, internetwork connections and pafazovy transfer of the existing services is carried out that creates a strong basis for large-scale commercial deployment of 5G networks.

In testing complete solution 5G from ZTE, including radio an access network, a core of network, a transport network and intelligent devices was applied that allowed to provide communication with smartphone 5G prototype from ZTE in the conditions of carrying out field tests.

Results of testing also became the basis for verification of such key technologies of a 5G as Massive MIMO, 5G NR, double connection in the NSA mode, transport FlexE technology and the solution Common Core 5G.
