Yesakov Gennady Alexandrovich - Russian legal scientist, doctor of law, professor, specialist in the field of criminal law.

Biography

In 2000 he graduated from the Moscow State Law Academy (MGSA).

In 2002 he defended his thesis on the topic: "Mens rea in US criminal law" (supervisor A.I. Rarog).

In 2007 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "The doctrine of crime in the countries of the common law family" (scientific consultant A.I. Rarog).


In 2004-2012 - Member of the editorial board of the journal "Lex Russica (Russian Law)." Since 2012: member of the editorial board of the journal "Russian Criminological View."

In 2006-2012 - Member of the editorial board of the journal "Current Problems of Russian Law."

In 2008, he was a visiting professor at the Law School of the University of Hong Kong City (China) (Law School, Hong Kong City University).

In 2010, he was a visiting professor at Lancaster University Law Great Britain School, Lancaster University.

In 2010, he gave lectures The Chinese Taiwan at the Training Institute for Judges and Prosecutors of the Republic of China.

Until 2012, he taught at the Moscow State Law School, but in 2012 he moved to the Higher School of Economics, where he headed the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology.

As of August 2021, he is working as a professor in the Department of Judicial Systems and Criminal Law (reorganized Department of Criminal Law, Faculty of Law, Higher School of Economics).

Social activities

2019: Speech in Samara District Court on Cartel Case

On January 24, 2019, it was reported that Gennady Esakov, Doctor of Law, Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics," acted as a specialist in the Samara District Court in the case of Sergei Shatilo, Director of Modern Medical Technologies LLC. The professor pointed to several critical inconsistencies with the criminal law that he found in the case. More details here.

Scientific activity

As of January 2019, Professor G.A. Yesakov is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in Russian, English, French and Chinese on criminal law and criminology.
