2019: Announcement

On February 24, 2019 the Intel company announced a new processor family code-named of Hewitt Lake. They are expected use in the equipment of Internet of Things.

The company promises the energy efficient SoC configuration which is specially intended for exclusive calculations. Also Intel states the improved performance for limited on the power and a decision space for networks and storages.

Intel provided a processor family for devices of Internet of Things Hewitt Lake

Hewitt Lake succeeded lines of the 14-nanometer single-crystal systems of Xeon of D intended for for creation of low-power solutions in the conditions of limited space. Xeon of the D steel third generation of single-crystal solutions of Intel based on 64-bit architecture.

The Intel Xeon processors D-1500 were constructed based on Skylake-SP chips and allow to accelerate network functions and also implementation of Intel Quick Assist (QAT) technology for much faster processing of flows of the ciphered data with the help of the matching unloading hardware components.[1]

Intel at the time of the announcement did not open detailed technical characteristics of Hewitt Lake. Presumably, chips are constructed on architecture of Cascade Lake therefore contain hardware corrections of vulnerabilities of Spectre and Meltdown. Also new sets of instructions of VNNI (Vector Neural Network Instructions) are supported and support of Optane DC Memory is added.

Thanks to transition to the optimized 14-nanometer technical process of Intel it was succeeded to increase clock rates of Hewitt Lake processors at the previous level of energy consumption. The company calls a new product the high density and high-integrated system - on - the chip (SoC) which will allow to execute transactions on network edge, to ensure safety and to create the new level of device management. Hewitt Lake entry terms into the market are not reported.
