On May 23, 2019 it became known that "INEUM named after I. Brook", entering into Avtomatika Concern of State Corporation Rostec, together with RSK group the first supercomputer on the Russian 8-core Elbrus-8C microprocessors developed. It is intended for the organization of high-performance computing, processing of "Big Data" and the solving of tasks requiring ensuring the maximum level of information security.
The supercomputer solution is from the racks containing compact four-processor a blade servers with liquid cooling. Such method of heatassignment allowed to lower module dimensions that gives the chance to place up to 153 computing nodes in one server rack. Their total computing power is up to 75 TFLOPS of double precision - one rack can execute up to 75 trillion transactions with a floating comma in a second. At the same time the final power of the supercomputer, according to developers, is practically not limited as racks can be integrated in a uniform computing cluster.
Each core of the eight-nuclear Elbrus-8C microprocessor with domestic architecture is capable to perform Elbrus up to 25 transactions for one clock period. The architecture of the processor allows to increase considerably performance of application programs due to their optimization.
Fourth generation of domestic Elbrus microprocessors is suitable for accomplishment of difficult mathematical calculations and modeling of neural networks which are a basis of artificial intelligence technologies. The main difference of our IT systems – the high level of information security. Elbrusa with guarantee do not contain the "tabs" allowing to influence far off system operation and it is illegal to remove information. It allows to use our supercomputer in the sensitive spheres connected with processing of confidential information, - the chief executive of Rostec Oleg Yevtushenko noted. |
According to Rostec, distinctive property of the developed supercomputer is the high energy efficiency. Less than 6% of all consumed electricity are spent for its cooling. In construction are applied integrated at the level of the monitoring system and author's control algorithms power supply increasing energy efficiency and fault tolerance are resistant. The subsystem of power supply provides a possibility of operation in difficult conditions with an expanded voltage range and the raised interference level. Servers have the built-in functionality for remote diagnostics and management.
Besides, application of different technologies of switching, including, use of domestic network of the intercomputer exchange is possible. The construct of a rack allows to replace computing nodes, power supplies and modules of hydroregulation in the mode of "hot swap" without interruption of operability of a complex.
According to the CEO of Avtomatika Concern Vladimir Kabanov, the supercomputer can be used in such spheres as mathematical modeling to the industry and medicine, processing of big data, implementation of scientific computations and also to neural network calculations and other areas where are important performance, energy efficiency and big computing powers.
