Orange will provide uninterrupted satellite communication for the Arctic courts of Sovcomflot

On June 11, 2019 it became known, of the agreement between international service -provider Orange Business Services and the Russian shipping company'Sovcomflot' at which first stage the provider will provide 8 courts uninterrupted satellite communication. Transfer of all telemetric data, arriving from cameras and sensors of the vessel on screens situational center ashore, will allow to increase safety of navigation.
Sovcomflot is shipping company of Russia, she specializes in transportation of oil and liquefied gas, including in extreme climatic conditions. The fleet of the company for June, 2019 consists of 146 courts, more than 80 of them have an ice class that allows them to work in regions with a difficult ice situation.
The Arctic shuttle tankers "Mikhail Ulyanov" and "Kirill Lavrov" became the first vessels of Sovcomflot in which satellite communication of Orange was connected - it is the oil tankers constructed in Russia. In addition to them, the similar solution will be set on three Arctic shuttle tankers of the company. In the Far East communication of Orange will provide vessels of other type – three supply vessels which problem – to ensure safe functioning of sea platforms.
Stable communication in any navigation area gives to the situational center ashore the chance to quickly obtain information on a status of systems and mechanisms of the vessel. In addition, crew members can regularly communicate with the relatives.
During the work on project implementation of Sovcomflot we started an intellectual algorithm of the automatic choice of the satellite and a hub for ensuring the maximum possible communication quality. It will allow crew to increase safety of navigation in the conditions of the Arctic. It is important to note that the vessel not just becomes office in the sea, and it is integrated into coastal infrastructure of the company.
