2019: Start of the first stage of the investment project for the development of the Actual-Kachkanar field

On June 26, 2019, EVRAZ announced that it had launched the first stage of an investment project to develop the Actual-Kachkanar titanium-magnetite ore deposit with vanadium content. When developing a new field at EVRAZ, KGOK will use an automated system for monitoring mining and transport equipment in quarries, which in real time monitors and transmits information to the dispatcher and employees about the location and parameters of all equipment in quarries.

Industrial mining of ore from the Actual-Kachkanar quarry is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2021. The project is included in the list of investment projects of strategic importance for the Sverdlovsk region.

It is planned to allocate 6.4 billion rubles for the implementation of the first stage of the project. The field will be developed by one quarry. Ore production from the quarry is expected to reach 13 million tonnes per year by 2024. During the development of the Criminal Police Service, 135 additional jobs will be created.

The commissioning of the Actual-Kachkanarskoye field involves the use of modern technologies: open-pit excavators with a bucket capacity of 20 cubic meters and heavy-duty open-pit dump trucks BelAZ with a carrying capacity of 240 tons. In the future, it is planned to place a large crushing of ore directly in the quarry, raising the ore by conveyor on board the quarry, where medium-fine crushing crushers will be located. The delivery of crushed ore to the processing plant will be carried out by the main conveyor.

The implementation of the first stage of the project will allow maintaining ore production at EVRAZ KGOK at the level of 59 million tons per year, and by 2024 the 22% of the total volume of ore mined at the enterprise will be provided by the Kachkanarskoye deposit, "said Denis Novozhenov, EVRAZ Vice President and Head of the Ural Division. - This guarantees stable operation of another major industrial enterprise in the region - EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant.
