2019: Use in hospitals

By August, 2019 in Royal Free hospitals began to use mobile application which quickly reveals diseases of kidneys. The new technology is called "the potential rescuer" who allows to set the diagnosis in a few minutes.

Intense injury of kidneys becomes frequent a complication of different serious diseases, including sepsis, and it is noted at every fifth person who came to hospital. Without treatment such status can lead to a sharp renal failure, influence work of other bodies and even to lead to death.

Hospitals began to use mobile application which reveals diseases of kidneys in minutes

In the London hospital the research during which doctors and nurses received from mobile application of the message, warning about potential injury of kidneys at the arrived patient was conducted. The new warning system which received the name Streams was developed by Royal Free company in cooperation with technology company DeepMind. The application sends to doctors analysis results in the form of easily readable conclusions and diagrams. For risk assessment the application uses express blood tests that allows to receive result on average within 14 minutes. Usually such diagnostics takes several hours.

Managers of hospitals said that costs on treatment at application of the Streams system were considerably reduced. These applications were also estimated by University College London. The results published in the Nature Digital Medicine magazine showed that explicit changes in indicators of recovery of patients were not, but doctors and nurses noted considerable simplification as the application allowed to recognize quickly and easily intense injury of kidneys. Authors of the report consider that a system should be estimated in larger researches in a number of hospitals.[1]
