2019: IT Infrastructure Optimization
On August 23, 2019, Softline announced that it had helped UrFU optimize its IT infrastructure.
According to the company, according to the results of competitive bidding, Softline entered into a three-year academic agreement with the Ural Federal University name of the first President Russia B.N. Yeltsin, which involves equipping software Microsoft university employees with licensed workstations and classrooms. The University was able to reduce - IT expenses, predict their size in the next reporting period, ensure centralized management, ON as well as mitigate the risks associated with sanctions for the use of unlicensed software products.
University employees conducted an internal IT audit to identify their own software needs. As a result, it turned out that the university needed to equip the main packages with operating system Windows 4,200 jobs for employees. In accordance with the requirements of the legislation, UrFU announced a tender for the supply of software. According to the results of the competition, Softline was declared the winner. The Softline team offered the university several options for an agreement. However, Softline employees, on the basis of their own expertise, immediately noted the most profitable option for the university - Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) from Microsoft.
The main advantage of EES for the university will be quite significant savings in software costs. If an agreement was concluded for an indefinite purchase, then installing software would cost the university 3-4 times more expensive. In addition, the agreement implies that the amount of annual payments in the Microsoft price for UrFU is fixed for 3 years. The annual turnover of the project amounted to 12 million rubles.
EES will allow UrFU to more accurately predict its IT spending. This is an important bonus, given that the cost estimate for state institutions by higher authorities is approved for the year ahead. All additional costs require efforts from the university and are subject to numerous approvals.
The third advantage for UrFU from cooperation with Softline is that the university will automatically receive the latest software versions. It is worth noting that for the lack of current versions for educational institutions, fines are provided.
An additional benefit of EES is that it provides fully centralized management of purchased software.
Thanks to the agreement, the time for servicing email services was reduced, accounts were created in the mail client and a portal for automatic activation for all students of the educational institution. told Alexey Mekhonoshin, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Information Technologies of UrFU |
Because of centralized agreement management, the IT department has freed up time for more important tasks. Considering that this client has a very extensive structure, such an exemption from unnecessary load will have a positive effect on all activities of the university. told Vitaly Rostetsky, project account manager |
