2019: Service launch
On September 5, 2019, the Facebook Dating dating service was launched. It works on a separate tab inside the main application Facebook for and and is available to Android iOS users who are 18 years old.[1]
After activating the Facebook Dating option on the social network, you need to create a separate profile in which the name and age of the user specified in the main Facebook profile will automatically appear. After that, the user will have the opportunity to see other users who have activated this option.
Facebook Dating does not offer friends from the Facebook social network as potential partners, but it allows you to add friends of interest to a special list visible only to the user.
The developers paid increased attention to security and privacy issues: Facebook Dating has the ability to block unwanted interlocutors, as well as prohibit sending photos, links, payments or videos in messages.
There's also a Secret Crush feature that suggests the user can add up to nine Facebook friends or Instagram followers to a separate list. If the person who is in the user's list adds it to his list, the service will tell you about the match.
You can filter the list of potential partners using various information that they post on social networks. For example, the service allows you to select only those who are in a specific group or attended an event.
Initially, the new one will be available in the United States, Canada and some countries in Asia and Latin America. In European countries, the service will start working in 2020.[2]
2018: Plans to launch the service
The founder of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, announced Facebook's plans to launch a dating service in May 2018 at a conference in California. Then he said that the application would be intended for those who want to create a "serious relationship."
