The Far Eastern Federal University implemented the system of face recognition VisionLabs

2019: Start of security video surveillance

On September 9, 2019 the VisionLabs company reported that Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) became the Russia's first institution of higher education which started security video surveillance and the system of face recognition of visitors of a campus. The large-scale project was implemented with assistance of Sberbank, Tekhnozreniye group and VisionLabs company.

A system is intended for conducting the round-the-clock monitoring of visitors in academic buildings of a campus of the university. The complex from cameras video surveillances and servers for processing of video flows and face recognition will be unrolled on the platform FASystem. The platform is founded on technology LUNA SDK of VisionLabs company and allows to distinguish persons of people in real time and also to compare them with database DVFU.

Process of system operation of face recognition is built in such a way that at each hit of the person in a surveillance camera lens, the person on duty of the DVFU Situational center obtains information on the people (a full name, work location and a photo) who are present at the loaded database and also on the place of their detection at the moment. The staff of the Situational center has a technical capability to create lists and to separate people from the database into groups — for example, "students", "teachers", "administrative personnel" and so on.

DVFU is the large education, research and innovation center attracting talented youth, the best scientists, hi-tech business from Russia and from abroad. Certainly, implementation of advanced technologies of identification of the personality considerably will increase the security level of students, employees and guests of a campus, noted Nikita Anisimov, the rector of DVFU

Implementation of a sensing technology of persons in a control system of access is security accreditation for our partners. Process of recognition happens in several stages. A system fixes the image of the person in the picture and transforms it to a set of unique characters — a biometric descriptor on which there is a further comparison of the same descriptors from the loaded base of persons. The received descriptor cannot be transformed back to the source image of the person, thus a system is most reliable and protected from theft of data, told Alexander Hanin, the CEO of developer company of a sensing technology of persons of VisionLabs
