On September 16, 2019 Oracle released as the company claims, completely autonomous operating system — Oracle Autonomous Linux. She prepares for work, is scaled, configured and corrects errors during operation.

According to him, Oracle aims at creating "the first-ever finished and really autonomous cloud". Oracle Autonomous Linux is a part of this strategy.
The new operating system is developed taking into account "the maximum capacity, reliability and security", Ellison said. He also promised "literally instant migration" on this OS and the fact that any Red Hat application will work without changes in Oracle Autonomous Linux.
The platform is free for the clients of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure having a subscription of Oracle Premier Support.

According to the senior vice president for software development of Oracle Wim Coekaerts, for the concept of Autonomous Linux it is similar to Autonomous Database service which was started in 2018.
Along with Autonomous Linux Oracle OS Management Service — the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure component intended for control and systems management, working in Autonomous Linux, Linux or Windows was submitted. In combination with politicians of resource management, the technology allows users to automate opportunities for accomplishment of the general tasks of management for the Linux systems.[1]
