Bekmambetov's film company and Microsoft agreed about cooperation in film production digitalization

2019: The agreement on strategic cooperation in the field of film production digitalization

On September 17, 2019 it became known that Bazelevs and Microsoft agreed about strategic cooperation in the field of film production digitalization. The relevant document was signed by the parties on behalf of Timur Bekmambetov and Christina Tikhonova.

As it was reported, the agreement assumes cooperation in use of cloud computing of Microsoft Azure and artificial intelligence in the course of creation and distribution of a format of audiovisual content of Screenlife which is strategically developed by Bazelevs studio. Screenlife is film language in which action happens on the screen of computers or mobile phones.

Cooperation with one of the largest Russian film companies which projects are recognized at world level is very important for Microsoft. This unique partnership in the Russian market directed to complex digital transformation of the sphere of film production. For September, 2019 when such enormous volume of media content is made, to the forefront there is a creation of other formats and methods of its consumption. Together with Bazelevs we will use such advanced technologies as artificial intelligence, in creation of the innovation projects in many respects defining future development of the film industry in Russia and in the world. The main directions of cooperation will become:

• Development of the Screenlife-platform based on Microsoft Azure. Bazelevs will use Microsoft Azure cloud to make tools for creation of Screenlife-content the most available both for professionals of cinema, and for fans. In particular, it is Clickorder allowing to record interactive videos with which the viewer can interact. Similar content provides bigger involvement and is ideal for blogging and the solution of business challenges in the field of e-commerce. Uninterrupted delivery of video content to the user devices will be performed using Microsoft Azure cloud, in particular, Azure Media Services will be used. In the future Timur Bekmambetov together with experts of Microsoft intends to make these tools available to developers and users around the world as Open Source of software (the software with the open code).
• Creation joint R&D laboratories. The companies intend to create the working group within which they will exchange the ideas and examination for creation of unique content and further development of products and services on the basis of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and data analysis of Microsoft in film production and also for promotion and rolling of movies and series.
