The initiative was developed by the Singapore startup of Blockchain Wine.

The founder and the chairman of Blockchain Wine Tim Tse noted that in the TATTOO Wine market each bottle will be traced from the moment of production before direct delivery to the consumer. The unique QR code which is called "tattoo" will be applied on each bottle in the course of pouring. If the retail seller or the consumer scans the code, then will instantly get access to all necessary information on a product. Among other things on a blockchain platform the location of vineyards and also the detailed description of wine growing, including use of fertilizers, methods of transportation, storage and many other things will be specified.
