2021: Joining Case IH, Steyr and New Holland

DataConnect, developed by John Deere, is now connected to six global digital platforms. The company announced this on July 8, 2021. Machine data exchange between CLAAS, 365FarmNet and John Deere was launched back in 2020, and now other partners have joined them - Case IH, Steyr and New Holland.

The DataConnect system allows important machine data to be exchanged between platforms. Thanks to the addition of global partners, farmers can view information about the mixed fleet on the most convenient platform for them of their choice. Previously, it was necessary to use separate platforms for each brand, and now, thanks to the capabilities of DataConnect, all this is available on one resource.

Data Connect allows you to track the following data categories for self-propelled forage harvesters, combines or tractors of various brands and other equipment:

  • current machine location
  • machine location history
  • fuel level in the tank
  • machine status in the field
  • machine speed

To use these options, it is enough for the operator or owner of the farm to grant permission to view their equipment on the selected platform. After connecting, the equipment of other manufacturers appears on this portal automatically, and the vehicles are marked with the icons of the corresponding brand, so that the user is even easier to navigate. No more hardware or software add-ons are required - DataConnect provides secure, cloud-based data processing.

Connecting CNH Industrial, which owns three platforms, means that users and AFS Connect (for Case IH), MyPLM Connect (for New Holland) and S-Tech (for STEYR) will be able to exchange cloud-to-cloud data with both the John Deere operations center and the CLAAS TELEMATICS or 365FarmNet portals.

These platforms are already available for hundreds of thousands of machines around the world on which the DataConnect system is installed.

2019

CLAAS, 365FarmNet and John Deere introduced the DataConnect system in the fall of 2019, providing the ability to directly exchange data between cloud storage independently of the equipment manufacturer. Similar to ISOBUS, customers can communicate via a common interface and monitor and monitor the entire fleet using the most preferred system.

Previously, farmers and contractors using a mixed fleet of equipment had the ability to record, process and document their data only using the appropriate equipment and web portals of individual manufacturers.

Using DataConnect, users can select the data processing platform of a particular manufacturer, while retaining the ability to transfer data from other machines using a new interface. This means that the data will still be available in the John Deere Control Center, as well as on the CLAAS TELEMATICS or 365FarmNet portals, but it will be possible to transfer this data in real time from one cloud to another. The main advantage for the user is that all the necessary machine configurations are now available within a single system.

DataConnect allows you to exchange critical machine data, including current and previous machine locations, fuel supply, current operating status, and speed. In the future, it will be possible to transfer agronomic data.

With DataConnect, companies will also be able to share their own experiences of data exchange between clouds as part of ongoing Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) projects. That is why the architecture of the new interface was developed taking into account the current industry standards.

All interested agricultural machinery manufacturers, software vendors, associations and standardization committees can join the project and participate in the development of the interface. The DataConnect system will be presented to the general public for the first time in November at the CLAAS, 365FarmNet and John Deere stands at AGRITECHNICA 2019, and the official launch of the system is scheduled for the summer of 2020.
