2019: Obtaining the patent for the invention of automatic system of the analysis of delays on cash registers

On December 24, 2019 the X5 Retail Group company reported that it took out the patent for the invention of automatic system of the analysis of delays on cash registers.

According to the company, the automatic system consists of the program and three components: information sources (cash desks and POS terminals), integration server and server of analytics. The program collects data from cash desks and POS terminals of outlet, transfers and processes them on servers, defines the sequence, logic and communication between technical and manual transactions, and further independently draws conclusions on improvement of processes and the reasons of delays on cash registers. The analysis is carried out in real time and allows to learn in advance and to prevent 98% of malfunctions and failures.

Authors of a system are 7 developers of the company, X5 became the patent holder. The solution underwent step-by-step implementation and completion since 2018, and for December, 2019 works at all 15,752 shops of X5 networks.

The solution is developed on the basis of open source software (Open Source) and is supported by internal resources. A system is constantly improved and improved due to implementation of the updated functionality.

The system of business monitoring allows to lower number of the people who left without purchases, predicts peak loads and in advance prepares a system for them, recommends how to build operational process to reduce purchase time. For example, when it is better to scan the card of loyalty (to or after carrying out goods) or how to optimize work with the universal transport module (UTM) for purchase of alcohol without failures and resets.

The uniqueness of development is confirmed with "The patent for an invention "Of a method of the analysis of delays on cash registers and devices for its implementation"", issued by Rospatent in November, 2019. X5 has exclusive rights on this solution in the territory of the Russian Federation within 20 years.^[1]
