2021: Developing Solutions on the webOS Auto Platform

In mid-March 2021, LG Electronics and Luxoft announced the start of a joint venture called Alluto, which will offer solutions for connected cars based on the webOS Auto platform.

The new facility will be located in Santa Clara, California. Alluto will focus on commercially available digital panels, automotive infotainment systems, as well as car sharing systems based on the webOS Auto platform.

Luxoft and LG Electronics launched Alluto to develop automotive solutions on the webOS Auto platform

The latest version of the webOS Auto 2.0 platform was released in December 2020. It supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and LG ThinQ. The developers claim that the multimedia processing components, the multi-display management system, the connectivity and security settings of the scalable platform will provide increased comfort and convenience for both passengers and drivers, and in addition, will allow automakers to create their own user interface.

2020: Creation of a company

In early January 2020, Luxoft and LG Electronics announced the creation of a joint company to develop and develop the webOS Auto platform and its further use in various automotive devices and systems.

Luxoft and LG Electronics formed a company for the development of automotive technologies

The new enterprise LG Luxoft Inc will expand Luxoft's capabilities in the design, development and deployment of large-scale digital mobile solutions based on open platforms. Combining its capabilities, LG and Luxoft will be able to develop and promote the so-called "digital driver's seat" - a system on the webOS Auto platform, which includes infotainment functions, navigation and other components designed for human interaction with the car. Among other things, the system will provide the ability to work with multimedia, manage several monitors, connect to the Internet, and guarantee the safety of the driver.

Luxoft and LG Electronics announce joint venture

LG has already entered into contracts with major streaming service providers such as Netflix, Hulu and Spotify to use their content on the webOS platform for home devices. Cooperation with Luxoft will allow you to transfer all these services directly to the car.

Luxoft will oversee the deployment of the webOS Auto platform in ready-to-manufacture systems, provide a global delivery network and scale production. Automakers and their key partners, as well as fleet operators, can already deploy Auto WebOS in large-scale production systems, including digital systems for the driver and in entertainment systems for the rear seats.

The joint venture will be based in California and will begin operations in the first quarter of 2020. Companies expect the deal to be approved by regulators.[2]
