At the end of January, 2020 the U.S. Army signed the contract with Robotic Research for $16.5 million for delivery of the trackers which are built in in footwear for soldiers who will allow them to keep track of location of each other in places without GPS or in territories with poor communication.
The Robotic Research company is most known for the developments in the field of robotics and already executed orders for U.S. Army in the field of navigation technologies. The set of the company is considered basic for other developers of robotic fighting vehicles.
According to the statement of the company, the sensors of localization of soldiers which received the name WarLoc will go to a front line, and the first contract provides equipment of four brigade fighting commands in different places. The first batch, according to data of Robotic Research, was already sent to the military personnel.
The small WarLoc size and the latest opportunities for providing high-precision data on localization and positioning in environments without GPS do this device ideal for the U.S. Armed Forces, - the president of Robotic Research Alberto Lacaze noted. |
The wearable WarLoc device provides data on positioning of troops in the conditions of absence of GPS, including arrangement of military underground and in buildings. WarLoc allows heads of divisions to estimate precisely location of each soldier in the most difficult conditions.
Provide that soldiers come into very big building and are lost or turn not in that direction when appear in an underground construction. Besides, there are situations when the signal of GPS is suppressed intentionally. With such cases they will be helped by WarLoc, - Lakaz explained. |
WarLoc sensors will be connected with the program Tactical Assault Kit set based on Android which is a part of the software integrated with Nett Warrior.[1]
