At the end of January, 2020 VTB announced the tender for purchase of 643 servers. The bank selected the equipment of production of Dell with the preset software and explained this restriction with the fact that other equipment does not work with it.
According to Vedomosti with reference to data from the Unified information system in the field of purchases, VTB intends to spend 2.8 billion rubles for purchase.
The bank purchases hardware and software systems, but not software, and it does not have need to check existence of the Russian analog of Nutanix as the register of the Russian hardware and software systems similar to the register of the Russian software, no, notes the edition.
According to the director of the department of infrastructure of information systems of JSC AMT group Vladimir Popov, technically software of Nutanix can work with servers of different producers, but problems with technical support can appear.
"The bank could purchase the software of Nutanix together with servers of Dell which in that case provides technical support and on it to software. But at expansion of infrastructure due to purchase of servers of other producer there will be a question who will support the solution in general. Feature of systems to which the Nutanix complexes belong, just that you can abstract from producer of specific iron and organize seamless IT infrastructure" — Popov explained.
The representative of Nutanix in Russia Maxim Shaposhnikov confirmed that at simultaneous use of servers from different producers problems because of service support can appear.
In a conversation with Vedomosti the representative of VTB refused to answer a question whether the bank is obliged to purchase the Dell Nutanix servers because of conditions of technical support of the available equipment. He only told that VTB tries to buy from two producers not to become dependent. He did not tell the name of the second supplier.[1]
