In the middle of February, 2020 Baidu released the software allowing to distinguish people without masks which are obligatory in China where epidemic caused by a new coronavirus storms. For accelerated promotion new technologies the company opened its source codes.

Baidu claims that the created artificial intelligence connected to the systems of photo and video surveillance is capable to find precisely people without medical masks even in big crowd. The algorithm was trained for 100 thousand images, and, according to developers, it works unmistakably in 96.5% of cases.

Service can notify the companies if their employees are not masked, and to the government it should help to check wearing masks in public places.

Baidu calls new development unique in own way. At the same time, as notes the The Next Web portal, earlier Chinese Internet giant developed a set of sensing technologies of persons.

In China masks are in huge demand among medics and normal citizens against the background of the outbreak of a coronavirus. In February, 2020 the State Committee of health care of the People's Republic of China called for rational use of protective suits and other means which are applied to prevention of infection with a coronavirus.

Baidu is one of the Chinese technology companies helping to struggle with a coronavirus. Earlier in February, 2020 the China Electronics Technology Group (CETC) company with assistance of the government started the application which gives to residents of the People's Republic of China an opportunity to estimate own risks of infection with a coronavirus. The program shows whether in the last two weeks cases of a coronavirus in those places which the person visited, or among passengers of transport which it used were registered. For this purpose the application analyzes routes of movement of users and the database of bodies of health care of transport.[1]
