DVFU and TerraTech will cooperate in area of implementation of educational VR technologies

2020: Agreement on implementation of VR technologies

On February 25, 2020 Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU) reported that together with JSC TERRA TEH, subsidiary company of Russian Space Systems holding (RKS, is included into Roskosmos State corporation) signed the agreement on cooperation in the field of implementation of technologies of virtual reality in educational process. The parties intend to create jointly VR lessons of geography on the basis of data of the remote sensing of Earth (RSE) from spacecrafts and to conduct monitoring of efficiency of VR training.

In Russia the complex of actions for digital transformation of education is implemented. DVFU as the significant university in east part of the country participates in these processes. Technologies of virtual reality actively get into all spheres of human life. Our task – to study potential and possibilities of VR technologies in education. Together with colleagues from "the TERRA of THOSE" we will check how using VR training it is possible to reach additional educational effects on the example of geography lessons, told Dmitry Zemtsov, the vice rector for development of DVFU

DVFU together with partners already carried out VR lessons of physics at schools. Besides, based on the regional center of the Russian Academy of Education (RAE) in DVFU the laboratory of pedagogical psychophysiology is open. Her specialists estimate advantages and risks of use of technologies of virtual and augmented reality in education, their influence on cognitive capabilities of the person.

Work purchases special importance in connection with the planned introduction to GIS tasks USE. Researches of opportunities of VR developments will take place in Competence center of NTI in the "Neurotechnologies, Technologies of Virtual and Augmented Reality" direction at Far Eastern Federal University. It is supposed that possibilities of VR technologies using the platform of virtual reality ATLASVR developed by JSC TERRA TEH will test.

In the ATLASVR VR platform on space stereograms we create the digital copy of the real world, including exact digital models of a relief and the area. The natural systems in many respects are defined by a relief which in turn affects climate, the soil, vegetation and fauna. By means of ATLASVR together with colleagues from DVFU we want to show interrelation of natural components to school students, at the same time having checked what impact teaching training courses using VR technologies has on progress. For the solution of this task we are going to prepare the test educational block on physical geography consisting of lecture and practical material including in a VR format, noted the CEO of JSC TERRA TEH of Milan Elerdov
