2020: Free online access to the state libraries of Russia and to their readers

On March 18, 2020 the Litres company announced that the Litres project: Library using which the state public libraries can issue to the visitors electronic and audiobooks, provided free access to 50 thousand works from the Litres directory in connection with the temporary ban on visit of libraries by readers entered because of spread of a coronavirus.

Litres: The library allows to issue far off books to readers for a period of 14 days. For this purpose it is enough to user to select library which is connected to the project on the card and to be registered in it to receive "library card". If the library organizes remote access for the readers, the user will be able to pass on the banner posted on the website of library and to get access to electronic and to audiobooks far off, without personal presence at library. After that he will select the pleasant books and will be able to read or listen to them on any electronic device – computer tablet or phone in applications "Read!" and "Listen!" on platforms iOS and Android. The works loaded into memory of gadgets are available and offline. The book which is handed out returns to library automatically after the expiration of fixed term. If the user did not manage to read or listen to the work, he can take its repeatedly unlimited number of times.

The libraries with the expanded directory (more than 500 thousand electronic and audiobooks) which are already connected to the project are marked on the map. Other libraries for receiving free access need to write to the address lib@litres.ru a request for providing the login and the password, a banner for online registration of readers on the website and also remote service. All statistics of online registration will be available to library. And to readers – 50 thousand works in electronic and an audioformat.

Schools can be also connected to a digital library with the special directory of classical works, having directed the request for lib@litres.ru. At connection the educational institution receives the login and the password from a personal account of the librarian, a banner for online registration of readers and the short link for remote access which it is possible to post schools on the website or to extend in parent communities or electronic journals.

Litres: The library was started in 2012. Thanks to this project any reader of libraries can receive the library card with the login and the password from Litres. Access to all books which the library selected from Litres for the directory is provided to it. In 2016 based on the Litres project: Library the Litres project was created: School which provided for schools a two-level system on issue of e-books. The librarian can register readers in the project, create groups of readers, create and issue selections of books to individuals or a group of persons, to unload statistics on all actions in a digital library.
