Boris Babayan

Boris Artashesovich Babayan is the Soviet and Russian scientist, the teacher, the corresponding member of Academy of Sciences of the USSR, developer of ADP equipment; corresponding member of the Russian AN. The author of works by the architectural principles of creation of computer systems, the computer software. Winner of the State and Lenin awards. The first European scientist awarded ranks Intel Fellow.

Biography

Boris Babayan was born on December 20, 1933 in Baku, in the Armenian family.

In 1951 entered Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and in 1957 graduated from it.

From 1956 to 1996 worked at Institute of exact mechanics and ADP equipment, including headed division hardware and the software.

In 1964 he received degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences, seven years later became the Doctor of Engineering.

In 1984 it was elected the corresponding member of Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Founded basic department "Computing Technologies" on Faculty of radio engineering and cybernetics of MIPT in 1996. Now it is department of microprocessor technologies with base in Intel of A/O Ltd.

For development and deployment of the microprocessor Elbrus-2 computing system it received a rank of the winner of the Lenin award.

Since 2004 together with a part of the collective developing the Elbrus project passed into structure of Intel corporation. Babayan became the first European scientist awarded the title Intel Fellow (the honored research engineer of Intel).

Later Boris Babayan works as the director of architecture of division of Software and Solutions Group of Intel corporation and also the scientific adviser of Intel research center in Moscow. Development and improvement of computer architecture, development of the innovative technologies became the main direction of its activity. Babayan directs the global project including the works in the field of architecture of computers and the system software, technology of binary compilation and technology of the protected calculations directed to improvement of the existing architecture, reliability augmentation and resistance of computer systems to influence of viruses.
