At the beginning of April, 2020 the U.S. Army began to implement in the accelerated order the corporate Microsoft Teams messenger because of spread of a coronavirus of COVID-19. The U.S. Government announced that it will try to deploy the service as soon as possible to provide observance of social isolation.
However the pandemic of a coronavirus of COVID-19 changed normal work of all defense structures, and the U.S. Government activated efforts on deployment of Microsoft Teams — the platform for joint work of Microsoft. The source familiar with the U.S. Department of Defense transferred to media the image of "the configured version" Microsoft Teams. According to data of a source, deployment of Microsoft Teams happens in the Pentagon ahead of schedule.
The U.S. Government encourages the employees whenever possible to work far off and to observe strict protocols of social isolation to reduce influence of a coronavirus on country infrastructure. Deployment of Microsoft Teams service and use of Microsoft Azure for storage of cloud data — an important stage of ensuring remote work therefore it is no wonder that the government began to accelerate works on implementation of these tools.
Thus, Microsoft received one more large contract for implementation of cloud services from the Pentagon, at the same time the financial component of the agreement does not reveal. By April 8, 2020 Microsoft continues project implementation under the name Defense Enterprise Office Solutions (DEOS; Solutions for the defense enterprise) worth $7.6 billion. It it was concluded with General Dynamics for deployment of Microsoft Teams service in the U.S. Department of Defense.[1]
Though because of the claim of Amazon the court completely prohibited Microsoft and to the Ministry of Defence to work together over the cloud contract for $10 billion, this solution does not influence the DEOS program and also the implementation of Microsoft Teams announced in April, 2020 in the American army.
