As it became known at the beginning of April, 2020, the government of the southern State of Karnataka in India started use of a new Android-application of Quarantine Watch for observation of people which are on a house quarantine.

The application checks a GPS position of the user who is on a quarantine and also each hour asks it to take a selfie which is necessary for confirmation that the person did not leave the dwelling. "Selfie per hour and any police" — wrote the authorities to Twitter, commenting on application launch. In case of violation of the mode, citizens are promised to be moved to the uniform state quarantine center.

According to information in Google Play, the Quarantine Watch application belongs to the category "Health and Fitness". For April 13, 2020 at it 275 estimates and GPA of 2 of 5.

Quarantine Watch — only one of several digital instruments which the authorities of India use for restriction of spread of a koronavirusny infection. While many inhabitants not against similar measures, human rights activists point that they have excessive character and create threat of violence in relation to the people suspected of transfer of COVID-19.

Human rights activists complain that in the country there are no laws which could protect private life of citizens in information space. On March 24, 2020 the government of the state published residence addresses of 20 thousand people who are on a 14-day quarantine after return from abroad. These data were published on the official site of the government, though did not contain names.

According to Johns Hopkins University, for the beginning of April, 2020 in India there are 9205 cases of infection the koronavirsusy, 331 person died, 1080 recovered. By the number of the diseased the country takes the 22nd place.[1][2]
