On April 21, 2020 it became known that the Moscow institute of electronics and mathematics (MIEM Higher School of Economics National Research University) effectively switched over to the mode of remote work with the help of the Cloud of CROC. Its connection allowed to unroll all in a week the system of virtual audiences in which all classes of university are daily given now. As a result of MIEM Higher School of Economics National Research University saved the speed and efficiency of educational process.
The Higher School of Economics National Research University is one of leaders of online education in Russia. Only on Coursera the Higher School of Economics provided more than 100 rates on which signed more than 2 million people. However in the conditions of transition of university to 100% a work online form because of a quarantine situation additional computing resources were required. It concerned first of all distantny implementation of engineering disciplines.
College teams of MIEM Higher School of Economics National Research University in parallel work more than on 200 tasks of industrial partners of university: create the systems of noiseproof coding for Huawei, develop modules for DLP- systems Infowatch, the system of object recognition on thermovision images, the registrar of people on corporate actions for VTB , etc. The most part of projects requires the virtual environments of development and testing including classical virtual machines, docker-containers, clusters Kubernetes.
In addition, for providing the remote mode it was required to create "the virtual double" of each audience in the system of video conferences. Students and teachers can "come" into them in time fixed for training. Because of total transition to a remote operation mode load of IT infrastructure of university for the last several weeks grew many times, and resources of own private cloud ceased to be enough. The student's project appeared under the threat.
The solution was the Cloud Croc using which it was succeeded to scale quickly infrastructure of university and is adaptive to select resources for those projects which need it.
