2020: Start of a system

At the end of April, 2020 the AirAsia company started a solution blockchain for freight air transportation. The platform under the name Freightchain developed by logistics division of Asian carrier should simplify process of armoring of packages on the AirAsia aircrafts and also other airlines.

Traditionally consignors and forwarding agents manually perform long and tiresome search of cargo transport networks which meet their requirements within a supply chain. Using a blockchain of Freightchain allows consignors and forwarding agents to browse conditions of airlines and to armor tickets in real time. At the same time process of biddings allows consignors to select the cheapest plan or the fastest route for transportation of the load. Thus, Freightchain increases efficiency of process of armoring of packages and also provides transparency of transactions.

We consciously started Freightchain during this period of uncertainty among global suppliers connected with a coronavirus pandemic, - the technical director of Freightchain Vishal Batra explained. - Flexible software platforms, such as Freightchain, allow to support uneven supply and demand in the conditions of quickly developing environment. The trust and transparency are necessary now more than ever.

The Freightchain platform uses Hyperledger Sawtooth and the graphical interface similar to the interface for armoring of passenger tickets. Earlier the platform was checked in a pilot project on delivery of pharmaceutical loads from Bangalore (India) to Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).

The blockchain platform offered consignors a route through Malaysia and South Korea with runs from three different carriers as direct runs were unavailable. Thus, interlinear armoring of runs also increases efficiency of the low-used airplanes.[1]
